Called down to Als the other day just to wind the boy up (and to convince him to glass on some bonzer side runners…)

Al’s constant search for new and improved methods continues, his latest board is 4 1/2lbs and strong enough for him to bounce off.

He’s got a whole load of new boards gone up into the gallery now too, have a look here

So I havent really surfed that much in a while, or been taking that many photos I felt like throwing up here.

Had the 1st real weekend of summer surf these last 2days so i thought Id give ye a few of the pics.
I almost remember how to surf, another weekend or two like this and I might pass as someone who can at least stand on a board again.

Anyway, gotta have logs when you travel

Have no shots of last night other then the obligatory dodgy sunset shot. Lovely glassy night though, just what the doctor ordered.

The chauffeur getting his slide on.

When I got of the water, I had a quick scroll through the camera and 98.9% of the photos were absolute shit, but I was stoked off my chuck on the last one, that is until I got home and realized there was a fucking water drop right in the center, all a learning experience.

Summer’s here, and everyone knows, Im a small wave, fair weather surfer so there’s a good chance there’ll be another update before the end of the summer.

Oh the beatings to come!

A few months ago I was somewhere much sunnier then here and I had coffee with a man who planted a seed. Since then, all iv wanted to do was take photos from the water.

Got home today to a little note saying the lovely people in the post office had a parcel for me. Stoked, but cursing the cold.

Hopefully il have something nice to be posting here in the next few months

You can always do with more.

Thank Pete

While I was wandering around California, Pk of Californiadreamin pulled a few strings with Margret of ( Bing ) who very very kindly took the time out of her day to give me the tour.
Theres probably very few people out there who would get as excited as me at the opportunity of a tour of a surfboard factory.
Forgive the quality of the few shots I snapped off, my hands were shaking….. 🙂

I could have literally dropped thousands down this corridor, it was upsetting looking at so many boards in need of a loving home.

Pk’s new toy

A serious contender for my next investment

I begged and pleaded to be left take one of these boards just thrown in the corner home with me.

(Matts collection of vintage Bing Nuuhiwa’s, for “research’ she says…..)

I had pics of Matt shaping bay, but again, my camera skills let me down.

It was great to see how its all done at the highest level.

Had a lovely day of logging yesterday and my lord was it needed, but this is all I wanted when I came home

I have been away.

It was nice. Sunny, nice food, nice people, all the things you would hope for in a nice trip.
I have an awful lot of photos and Im not sure how best to deal with them. So in no particular order or in no more time scale then when I feel in the humor, some of them will turn up here. Anyway, what follows is my account of one stop after too much driving.

After being told it was only down the road I finally made it to SurfySurfy and I kind of got the feeling that this is where quite a large amount of stoke that inhabits the world stems from. The man behind the counter was stoked, any one who came through the door was stoked, some woman selling office supplies, left stoked, and me, well I left Really stoked. Iv been a fan of Jp’s blog since I found out about it really and like wise with bonzers. So I figured if I ever made it to California, there was two things I had to do, meet the man behind my source of daily board porn and pick myself up a bonzer. It arrived here today, so I felt the need to share 🙂

To say im pleased doesnt come close, if only there was swell coming to test it on…..

Now as instrumental in all this as Jp was a huge thank you has to go to the fantastic people who took care of all the hard work.
Surfysurfy is an outlet for Moonlight glassing Jp’s parents glass shop. As with everything with me, the order was left to the last minute, they pushed it through for me as I only had the week to pick it up and even went out of their way to get the bamboo fins on it for me, which to my mind anyway, look the berries (once theres a test drive there’ll be a report)

So thanks Sally, your fantastic to deal with.

While I was in there, I took a few pics (I had ment to take a few of my own board while I was there, but every time I got near it, i got side tracked)
Theres just something about guns, especially ones with that lei logo, i think one of these might be next on the list

Then theres the guns with a story to tell.

(dont tell anyone I stole those photos)
Many is the nicely tinted rail
</a.

And the man behind it all

Thanks again mate
